Just a little preview of this mornings fateful event…
More pics of the actual ‘do to come!
ess
this week my good friend, Cassie, got me hooked one a couple British TV series…and I’m now hooked, I’ve watched about 3 seasons all together….

SKINS
&
the inbetweeners

obsessed…
but don’t worry loved ones, I’ve been very productive I’ve spent this time knitting this circle scarf for my mom (which she may have to share with me…)
Oh and I apologize in advance for awkwardly cropped pics, just had to go for the selfies, the fam was to busy..having lives to take pictures of me

which was fashioned after this circle scarf from Milicent Vee, in the Distillery District, that I was given for Christmas

It’s SUPER easy to make circle scarves, especially these ones since they are a simple knit stitch with a drop stitch pattern every 20 inches or so, then sew together the ends to make it into a complete circle!
And the count down begins…just a few more hours and it’s farewell to the long hair, oh and the whole year of 2010 I guess that’s special too..
See you then!

this is the kind of closet I would love for my room, I love the openness of it, it could be fabulous as long as I always kept it clean, another thing to work on in the new year.

okay okay, I know what you’re thinking I’m going a little over board with this whole movie review stuff, but not only did I want to share with you how fabulous and charming a movie that Tangled was, I also need to share something else.
While watching the film I caught myself wishing I had this lost princesses beautiful flowing locks, and I realized, for me that goal may be attainable since my hair is pretty damn long already, but for so many little girls out there that length seems ages away. Especially when it’s slowed way down by the process of chemotherapy to treat Cancer.
So that’s why this Friday (new years eve I might add) at 9 AM I will be cutting off and donating 10 inches of my hair to Locks of Love, a charity organization that manufactures wigs for children suffering from cancer out of donated hair.
And I just know that for the next 2 and a bit days I will be having a vicious inner battle with myself (a little moral support would be much appreciated, send the love this way!). I’m not gonna lie this hair is definitely somewhat of a security blanket, there is for sure an emotional attachment, but I think this is what I need to do. Not just for the little girls who swoon over Rapunzel’s locks but also for myself, I need a bit of a change and I think this is a good way to kick start a new year. And although I know I am still me without the hair I’ll leave you with this thought…
as the cheesy line goes:
A new year, a (somewhat) new me.
and if I’ve inspired you…because I’m just so damn inspirational, check it out for yourself:

since this nice break from school has come I’ve taken it upon myself to watch as many movies as possible. movies are one of my favorite activities especially in this chilly weather. I thought I’d share with you a few good ones I’ve seen recently:
1. BURLESQUE

Starring Xtina and Cher, this is a fabulous movie to see especially if ham and cheese is your thing and you love a hot dance number. Christina plays an innocent small town chick looking to make it big, you may think same old, same old but I was impressed with the mix of old time burlesque and modern charm they brought to the plot. It’s definitely a fun film to see with the girls. Oh and Cam Gigandet just makes it that much better.
2. The King’s Speech

I was a bit reluctant to see this one since I was unaware of the story line and I never thought of Colin Firth as one of my favorite actors, but I gotta tell ya I was very impressed by this movie, and I highly recommend it. Not only was the story line strong and the characters rich but the images of the film were done beautifully and it was lovely to watch. And for all Harry Potter lovers out there (yes, this includes me) watch out for the three HP regulars also in this film, it just made it that much better.
3. Funny Girl

I won’t go on for too long about this one since I already ranted about its greatness, but again highly recommended by yours truly. Love Barb <3
4. Black Swan

This was a horribly beautiful film, but I must say, prepare yourself for a gruesome show. The story follows a very troubled girl and it was definitely not the story I was expecting, but of course the dance aspect was stunning and the actresses were impeccable, Portman and Kunis were perfect for their roles. This was a somewhat disturbing yet beautiful film, definitely a must see.

anyone else out there still in love with Gilmore Girls?
I mean IN LOVE, I’m the kinda fan who had full on don’t-leave-the-couch-for-too-many-hours marathons.
maybe I’ve said too much…
well I think this photo of Alexis Bledel is stunning, she’s always had a youthful beauty.

this bad boy is the Cashmere Fairisle Onsie from Club Monaco
It’s for men but I really don’t mind, it’s still on the top of my wishlist, that looks like heaven to wear.

love everything about this style

what could be better?

Last night I finally got to watch the film “Funny Girl” and I gotta tell ya, I’m hooked on Streisand. Although I have yet to see any of her other films, I have always been fond of this woman, and finally seeing her work makes me appreciate her that much more. Her talents are endless and she is stunning.
Especially in this film, I think every girl can relate to her character, comedienne Fanny Brice, who doesn’t feel beautiful, especially when compared to other show girls. But as we see here beauty comes from within and emanates outwardly. So everyone take a minute, and remember:
You are beautiful, and there is no right or wrong for beauty.

Not sure what to watch next movie night? This one should be top of the list, costumes are to die for, songs are delightful (especially when you know all the words since Rachel and Shelby sang a couple of them in Glee) as well as being hilarious and romantic all at once.
next on my list: Yentl
